The lucky winner of the Father’s Day basket supplied by Friends of the Library was Ted Vargas from Ozark.  The basket was won by his daughter, Audrey.

Audrey, ten, will be in the fifth grade at Upper Elementary in Ozark and enjoys reading all kinds of books.  She likes to come to the library because she can check out books for free.

Seasonal baskets are given away by Friends of the Library to promote use of the library by Christian County residents.  For information regarding how you can enter basket drawings, how to join Friends of the Library, or how to participate in summer activities at the library, contact the Christian County Library staff at 417-581-2432.

New Teen Program at Christian County Library

Friends of the Library (FOL) provided the money to purchase a new Nintendo Wii console and accessories for the Christian County Library.   To debut the Wii game system, a presentation was held on Thursday, May 31,   in the Netzer Room at the library.   This new teen gaming program, aimed at 12 to 18 year olds, was added to the summer reading program to encourage teens to become familiar with the library and to take advantage of the many resources available through the library.

FOL President Elizabeth Barns and CCL Children's Librarian Lucinda Dailey
Wii Play Free Play is scheduled to be held twice-per-month during the summer.  These social gaming events will be held on Thursday, June 7, June 21, July 5, and July 19, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and continue at least once per month later.  A selection of games will be available to be played on the big screen in the Netzer Room.  Teens can compete against one another in WII tournaments, play board games, and enjoy snacks.  For additional information on this teen program, visit, register HERE or contact the Christian County Library at 417-581-2432.

FOL is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to the improvement and expansion of services provided by the Christian County Library.  Our #1 priority is to provide additional funding for items and services not covered by the library’s county budget.  These funds are mainly acquired through book sales held twice a year in April and October.  Volunteers are always needed to staff these book sales and to represent FOL and the library at business expos and other public functions.  For $5.00 a year you and your family can join FOL.
